Winnakee Land Trust

Help Build New Trails at Robert’s Refuge

WHEN: Wednesdays, October 14 & 21 from 5-7PM
Drop in any time but please register ahead!
Please note that the preserve is closed during hunting season.
Any volunteers should register with Jen at jen@winnakee.org prior to each event.

WHERE: Meet at the trailhead off North Quaker Lane, Hyde Park, NY (Google pin here).

Join Winnakee’s Director of Parks and Ecological Preserves, Jen Adams, leading the team of volunteers to built this trail system.

We opened the first portion of the trail at Robert’s Refuge, help us build the full loop! We have just a few tasks left to get the full loop open and we need your help. Tasks will include walking the current length of the trail to remove downed branches, helping to clear fallen limbs from additional portions, and helping to cut back vegetation.

Along the way, you’ll learn about an exciting woodland pollinator project and other stewardship efforts underway at this former red pine plantation. The trail passes vernal pools, climbs a ridgeline, and offers views over a healthy hemlock stand.

Winnakee will provide gloves, tools, and orange safety vests. Please bring water and wear weather appropriate hiking clothes.
