What does it take to make a forest thrive for birds? Join two leading voices in forest conservation to explore how sustainable forest management can create quality habitat for bird species facing population declines. Audubon NY’s Forest Program Manager Suzanne Treyger opens with a practical look at the habitat needs of forest birds and how landowners can apply management strategies at both the landscape and local scale. She’ll cover the key components of quality forest bird habitat, including forest age class, structural complexity, and understory composition, and share real examples of how management practices that promote regeneration and long-term forest health can also benefit birds.

Whether you own a small woodlot or a larger property, Suzanne will highlight resources and approaches that are applicable to a range of property sizes. Then Todd Waldron, Senior Director of Conservation and Programs at Winnakee Land Trust, brings regional conservation projects to life with case study stories and visuals showing how thoughtful stewardship is making a measurable difference for Ruffed Grouse, American Woodcock, Golden-winged Warbler, and more.

This webinar is presented by The Woodland Stewards Collaborative: A new program partnership putting conservation-forward landowner education at its center.

The Woodland Stewards Collaborative, is a joint program partnership of Winnakee Land Trust and the New York Forest Owners Association (NYFOA), dedicated to empowering private landowners across New York with the knowledge and resources needed to be conservation-first stewards of their land.
