Invasive Species ID Walk at Saw Kill
WHERE:
Saw Kill Trails, Red Hook, NY
WHEN:
Sunday, April 19 from 9:00-10:30am
Kick off Earth Week by Gaining Hands-On Knowledge About Invasive Species and What You Can Do About Them!
Join us for a guided woods walk focused on hands-on identification of invasive plant species. Winnakee’s naturalists, Jen Adams and Garrett Chisholm, will point out key identification features and share insight into how invasive species establish, spread, and outcompete native vegetation. They will also discuss the most effective times of year to remove different invasive species and offer practical guidance on prioritizing treatment strategies for the greatest impact.
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how invasive plants affect ecological communities and be better equipped to make informed, strategic decisions about where to focus their stewardship efforts for meaningful, long-term ecological benefit.
