Planned gifts can provide transformative support for additional conservation projects. Consider including Winnakee Land Trust in your will, trust or estate plan and join a group of committed individuals who want to ensure that the Winnakee Land Trust and the lands it protects will be here for future generations to enjoy.
Planned gifts are so named because such gifts are carefully planned as part of an individual donor’s overall financial and estate planning. They allow donors to make charitable gifts and take advantage of tax incentives, while securing your own financial future. You may want to consult with a financial advisor or legal counsel when making a planned gift, as Winnakee does not offer legal or tax advisory services. Winnakee accepts almost any kind of asset as part of its planned giving program, including cash, securities, real estate, retirement plans and life insurance policies.
Wills and Bequests
Suggested Language for Bequests: “I give [specify amount or property, percentage or residue] to Winnakee Land Trust., a not-for-profit corporation, chartered in the State of New York, PO Box 610 Rhinebeck, NY 12572 to support its mission and stewardship efforts.”
If you’re planning to make Winnakee one of your beneficiaries, we encourage you to let us know. We can work with you or your advisors to make sure the bequest is planned and administered properly. It also gives us the opportunity to thank you and welcome you as a member of our giving society. Requests for anonymity are always respected.
Retirement Funds
Designating Winnakee as a beneficiary of your retirement funds allows you to use those funds during your lifetime and provides you the flexibility to bequeath loved ones other assets in your estate with less tax burden.
Life Insurance Policies
Consider gifting a life insurance policy to Winnakee. If you no longer need all the life insurance coverage you purchased years ago, it is a valuable asset that you could give to support the mission of Winnakee. This is an easy way to make a large gift with little cost to yourself.
