Fall Trail Maintenance at Winnakee Nature Preserve
WHERE:
Winnakee Nature Preserve, 9 Van Dam Road, Hyde Park, NY
October 14th 10am-12pm
Join Jen Adams, Assistant Director of Land Stewardship, for a volunteer day at the Winnakee Nature Preserve in Hyde Park, NY. Volunteers will help cut back brush that is invading the trail corridor, clear downed branches, and help with other general trail maintenance tasks. This work will allow the trails of the preserve to remain accessible to hikers and bikers through the winter. Join Jen after the event to learn about how spongy moth (Lymantria dispar) invaded our forests and what you can do to help.
Volunteers should bring plenty of water and wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, bug spray and clothes they do not mind getting dirty. Gloves and tools provided. Kids under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Please mail contact@winnakee.org to register or simply show up that day.
